COMCARE Celebrates Ten Years And Honors Award Winners

At the COMCARE Delegate’s meeting held November 24^th at the Hotel Hershey, two individuals and two programs were honored for their work in HealthChoices. COMCARE also celebrated a 10 year anniversary and honored three founding members of the Board of Directors who still serve today. Click on the links for photos of our recipients.

County Managed Care Resource HealthChoices Awards

Working with the best and brightest, the COMCARE Board of Directors has decided it is time to begin recognizing the experience, dedication and creativity of those working in HealthChoices. COMCARE members are asked to submit nominations for the seven awards linked below. Recipients will be recognized at our delegates meeting held at the Hershey Hotel on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. All members are welcome to attend but registration is required.

The full criteria for each award can be found below. The nomination form is linked within each.

All submissions must be received by the close of business on October 9, 2009.

Welcome To The New COMCARE Web Site

The look has changed but your favorite features are still here. One significant change is the member login. We are no longer assigning passwords. Simply register to our site using the instructions below and create your own user name and password. Once you've registered we will receive notification and can then assign you rights to the COMCARE member's only sections.

Our member's only sections include the DPW policy clarification and the document repository that is currently under construction. As before, member's only access will be provided to elected officials and the behavioral health staff of member counties.

Instructions For Registering To The COMCARE Web Site:

Click on “Register” in the top right corner.
Fill out the requested information and press the “Submit” button.
You will receive an email within a few minutes. Click on the link contained in the email to confirm your registration.
You can then login to the website. It may take 1-2 business days for your registration to be reviewed and additional permissions assigned.

COMCARE PRO Welcomes All Fifteen Counties Coming Off The Two Year Waiver

On July 1, 2009 all counties and entitites that entered HealthChoices at-risk two years ago, will be required to carry reinsurance. We're pleased to report that all eight (fifteen counties) have chosen COMCARE PRO as their insurance carrier.

COMCARE PRO is a reciprocal risk retention group (RRG), licensed by the State of Vermont and approved to write insurance in the Connonwealth of Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.

With the addition of returning subscriber Northampton County, COMCARE PRO will grow from 17 counties to 32 on July 1.
